(1) In-country Training Workshop on Information Management and Documentation
Commences at IBC
The In-country Training Workshop on Information Management and Documentation
jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Immigration and Population and the
Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) commenced at
the International Business Centre on Pyay Road, Yangon on 27 November.
(2) Epilepsy Centre Opens
The Epilepsy Centre of Yangon General Hospital under the Ministry of Health
was opened at the hospital on 27 November. The Epilepsy Centre is the fruit of
the cooperation of the Ministry of Health and Austria. The centre will
contribute towards effective treatment and will be of great benefit to
endeavours for accomplishing two objectives of the Ministry of Health-- to
enable every citizen to enjoy longevity and to ensure that every citizen is
free from diseases.
(3) Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam Arrives
At the invitation of the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs
U Nyunt Swe, a goodwill delegation led by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs
of Brunei Darussalam Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Raja Dato Paduka H aji Awand Mohd
Ali bin Haji Awang Mohd Daud arrived Yangon by air on 27 November accompanied
by his wife Datin Hajah Nooraini binti Dato Haji Md Hussain.
(4) Tourists Study Vipassana
Tourists who arrived Yangon on board ms Song of Flower Cruiseliner visited
Myanmar Theravada Buddhist Mission (Central) in Bahan Township on 27 November.
They studied Vipassana Practices of Sayadaw Agga Maha Saddhammajotikadhaja
Bhaddanta Pannadipa. They then visited Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda. Ninety-seven
tourists who arrived by the cruiseliner left Yangon by air on 27 evening.
Another 73 tourists who arrived Yangon by air the same evening will stay for
the night on board the ship.
(5) UMHEL Empo Fetches $ 1.6m, Nearly K 1.03b
Union of Myanmar Economic Holdings Ltd sold 315 jade and gem lots valued at
about K 1.03 billion and over $ 1.6 million during two-day sales at its
seventh emporium. It was attended by 546 local merchants and 101 foreign

received Austrian Industry Mission led by Director for South East Asia Region
Dr Gerhard Kernthaler of Federal Economic Chamber at his office.
(B) Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission Brig-Gen Maung Maung received
Chairman of Xuxi Hongta Tobacco (Group) Ltd of the People's Republic of China
Mr Zi Gourui and party at Myanmar Investment Commission Office. The Minister
also received Chairman of SMD International Pte Ltd Mr Albert H K Hong and
party. The Minister also received Austrian Industry Mission led by Director
for South East Asia Region Dr Gerhard Kernthaler of Austrian Chamber of
Commerce at his office.
(C) Minister for Industry-1 U Aung Thaung received Chairman of Yunnan
Machinery and Equipment Import and Export Corporation Mr Lin Zai You and party
of Kunming at his office.
(D) Minister for Immigration and Population U Saw Tun received Dr Nibhon
Debovalya of ESCAP at his office.
(E) Deputy Minister for Commerce Commodore Myo Tint received Austrian
Industry Mission led by Director for South East Asia Region Dr Gerhard
Kernthaler of Austrian Chamber of Commerce at his office.
