BURMA'S JUNTA REPORTED TO HAVE ARRESTED FOURTH FORMER MINISTER
	  **************************************************************

Burma's military leaders are reported to have placed a fourth
former senior government minister under house arrest in
what's believed to be a crackdown on corruption within its
          ranks.

Ginny Stein reports, up until a week ago the four had held
senior posts within the country's ruling junta.

Burma's military rulers have not officially commented but
sources in Rangoon say the four are now believed to be
under house arrest, while being investigated for corruption.
Burma's military rulers disbanded its council a week ago,
and re-formed under another name. But the shake-up has
seen the country's top four generals remain in control.
Burma's opposition leader, Aung San Suu Kyi today held
national day celebrations at her home. More than 300
people attended, to hear the Nobel Laureate vow to continue
the struggle for democracy. She made no comment on
changes within the military council. The National League
for Democracy won landslide elections in 1990, but the
military has refused to recognise the outcome.
