(2) Deputy Prime Minister, Ministers Lay Cornerstone for
Construction of Yadana Gas Planning Office, Training School
A foundation laying ceremony for the construction of Myanma Offshore Yadana
Gas Planning Office and Training School of Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise of
the Ministry of Energy was held at the construction site near the Buddha's
Tooth Relic Pagoda on Mayangon Township on 16 November. Vice-Admiral Maung
Maung Khin, ministers and Mr H Madeo laid the cornerstones.
(3) Chinese Medical Delegation Arrives
A medical delegation led by Maj-Gen Li Chaolin of the People's Liberation
Army of the People's Republic of China Arrived Yangon by air on 16 November.
(4) Youth Delegation Leaves for Malaysia
A Youth Delegation led by Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister U
Than Shwe left Malaysia by air on 16 November to attend ASEAN Ministerial
Meeting on Youth II to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 17 to 18
November, at the invitation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Malaysia.
(5) Tourists from America Visit Bagan-NyaungU
Under the co-sponsorship of Myanma Tourism Services of the Ministry of
Hotels and Tourism and Myanmar Voyages International Tourism Co Ltd and under
the arrangement of WPO Around the World of the United States, 95 tourists
arrived Yangon by chartered flight on 15 November. The same day, the tourists
visited Bagan-NyaungU and observed ancient cultural heritage. After visiting
the Shwedagon Pagoda the tourists left Yangon by air on 16 November.
(6) Seizure of Opium in Namhkan Township
Members of Defence Services Intelligence and Anti-Drug Squad stopped and
searched a light passenger bus on Namhkan-Muse Road in Namhkan Township on 31
October. They seized two packets of opium weighing 0.8 kilo from two suspects
on board the bus.

OFFICE CALLS IN YANGON ON 16 NOVEMBER
Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt
received Secretary-General of the Association of South-east Asian Nations
Dato Ajit Singh at Dagon Yeiktha of the Ministry of Defence.
