(1)		Equipment, Medicine and Painting Donated
		A ceremony to present two laboratory equipment and medicine for Defence
Services General Hospital and a painting for Defence Services Museum was held
at the 
museum on Shwedagon Pagoda Road on 5 November, being attended by 
Secretary-2 of the State Law and Order Restoration Council Chief of Bureau of
Special Operations and Chief of Staff (Army) Lt-Gen Tin Oo. The donors
presented equipment, Medicine and painting to Secretary-2.

(2)		Malaysian Delegation Arrives on Goodwill Visit
		A goodwill delegation led by Minister of Defence of Malaysia Dato Syed
Hamid Bin Syed Jaafar Albar arrived Yangon on 5 November on a goodwill visit
to Myanmar at the invitation of Minister for Defence. On behalf of the
Minister for Defence, Minister Lt-Gen Thein Win received Minister of Defence
of Malaysia Dato Syed Hamid Bin Syed Jaafar Albar and party at Zeya Thiri
Beikman in Konmyinttha on 5 November.
		Minister Lt-Gen Min Thein hosted dinner in honour of the delegation at Zeya
Thiri Beikman in Konmyinttha and the guests were entertained to the variety
of dances of the Ministry of Culture.

(3)		Parallel Efforts Required in Forest Conservation and Eradicating
     Illegal Logging             
		Control and Inspection Branch has already been formed under Forest
Department to eradicate illegal logging and trafficking of wood-based
products, said Minister for Forestry Lt-Gen Chit Swe on 5 November at the
Forest Department. Parallel efforts are required in conducting forest
management and business eradicating trafficking of forest products, he
pointed out, stressing the need to cooperate with regional authorities for
the success of this task. Teak plantations are being set up under special
project to maintain the nation?s teak market abroad, he noted. Accompanied by
officials, the minister observed manufacturing of teak finger joints and
flooring for export to Japan at No 5 Furniture Factory of Myanma Timber
Enterprise. At Shwepyitha Forest-based Industrial Zone, they visited a
factory of Yinma Myatnoe Company Limited which is producing sawntimber.
Lt-Gen Chit Swe urged them to strive to manufacture value-added goods based
on other forest products such as rattan.

(4)		Forestry Delegation Leaves for PRC
		A delegation led by Deputy Minister for Forestry U Aung Phone left Yangon
for the People?s Republic of China on 5 November to attend the Signing and
Launching Ceremony of the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan in
Beijing from 6 to 8 November.

(5)		Myanmar Delegation to Attend 29th FAO Conference
		A delegation led by Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Brig-Gen
Khin Maung left Yangon for Italy on 5 November to attend the 29th FAO
Conference to be held in Rome beginning 7 November.

(6)		Short-term Management Course for Professors Concludes
		The short-term course on management for 
professors of Higher Education Department concluded at the Diamond Jubilee
Hall on 5 November.
 
(7)		One KNU Exchanges Arm for Peace 
            After realizing the true goodwill and endeavours of the State Law
and Order Restoration Council, a corporal of Battalion 4 of KNU armed group,
 Leiktho Station, bringing in one carbine, six magazines, 86 rounds of
ammunition and a walkie talkie, exchanged arm for peace at Bawgaligyi camp on
27 October. Officials gave him warm welcome and necessary assistance to him.

(A)		Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission Deputy Prime Minister 
Vice-Admiral Maung Maung Khin received President Executive Director Mr Hiroo
Kondo of Wakayama Kyodo Kenzai Co Ltd of Japan and party at his office.
(B)		Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission Brig-Gen Maung Maung received
Chairman and CEO Mr Lee Bong Hoon of Seoul Mobile Telecom Co of the Republic
of Korea and party at the commission office.
(C)		Acting Minister for Industry-1 and Minister for Livestock and Fisheries
U Aung Thaung received Chairman U Aung Hkam Hti of Pa-O National Organization
of southern Shan State Special Region-6 and members of Central Economic
Committee U Nyi Nyi (a) U Kyaw Zaw Hein and U Tin Shwe at his office.
