Burma denies Aung San Suu Kyi meeti

Burma's ruling military regime has denied reports that
Philippine Foreign Secretary Domingo Siazon met Burmese
opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi during a visit to
          Rangoon last week.

The denial comes a day after diplomatic sources in Manila
and Rangoon said the Nobel laureate had visited the
Philippine embassy during a state visit to Burma by
          Philippine President Fidel Ramos.

A senior military official in Rangoon says no such meeting
took place, while President Ramos told a news conference in
Manila that he "knew nothing about it".

The meeting would be the first between the head of Burma's
National League for Democracy and a leader from an
          ASEAN nation.
