YANGON, 12 Aug-Secretary-1 of the State Law and Order Restoration Council
Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt received President Mr Tadashi Sekizawa of Fujitsu Limited
of Japan and party at Dagon Yeiktha of the Ministry of Defence this
afternoon.
With the Secretary- 1, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Nyunt Swe and
Director-General Thura U Aung Htet of Protocol Department were also present.

(2) Secretary-1 receives Secretary of Socio-Economic Planning of the
Philippines
YANGON, 12 Aug-Secretary- 1 of the State Law and Order Restoration Council
Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt received Secretary of Socio Economic Planning Dr Cielito F
Habito of the Republic of the Philippines and delegation at Dagon Yeiktha of
the Ministry of Defence this morning.
With the Secretary- 1 were Minister for National Planning and Economic
Development Brig-Gen Abel, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Nyunt Swe
and Director-General Thura U Aung Htet of Protocol Department.
The guests were accompanied by Ambassador of the Philippines Mrs Sonia C
Brady.

(3) Thanmyanthu All-Bus Lines Control Committee presented cash
YANGON, 12 Aug -Thanmyanthu All-Bus Lines Control Committee presented cash
assistance for the l5th time to in-Service Tatmadawmen who sacrificed their
limbs for the nation at the City Hall this afternoon with an address by
Chief of the Bureau of Special Operations Chief of Staff (Army) Secretary-2
of the State Law and Order Restoration Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo.

Properties
YANGON, 12 Aug -Minister for Mines Lt-Gen Kyaw Min received a delegation led
by Managing-Director of Laranda Properties Sdn Bhd of Malaysia Mr Joseph
Vijay Kumar at the ministry this morning.
Present also were Deputy Ministers for Mines U Hlaine Win and U Myint Thein

(5) Vice-President of PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk calls on
Minister for Livestock and Fisheries
YANGON, 12 Aug Vice-President Mr Arif Widjaja of PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia
Tbk and party called on Minister for Livestock and Fisheries U Aung Thaung
at the ministry this afternoon.
Present also were Director-General of the Department of Livestock and
Fisheries U Kyaw Lwin, Director-General of the Fisheries Department U Soe
Win, Managing Director of the Livestock, Feedstuff and Dairy Products
Enterprise U Maung Maung Nyunt, Director of the Livestock and Veterinary
Department Dr Myo Thant, Director of the Bee Keeping Department U Maung Win
and Head of Office U Myint Shwe. _________________________________
(6) MIC Chairman receives Executive Vice-President of Mitsui
Marine and Fire Insurance
YANGON, 12 Aug Member of the State Law and Order Restoration Council Chairman
of Myanmar Investment Commission Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Admiral Maung
Maung Khin received Executive Vice-President Mr Takashi Kawa-hara of Mitsui
Marine and Fire Insurance Co Ltd and party at his office, this afternoon.
Also present were Minister at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister
Secretary of MIC Brig-Gen Maung Maung and officials.

(7) Minister for Foreign Affairs arrives back after attending Special
ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Singapore
YANGON, 12 Aug-The Myanmar delegation led by Minister for Foreign Affairs U
Ohn Gyaw arrived back here by air this afternoon after attending Special
ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in S2ngapore on 11 August.
The delegation was welcomed back at Yangon International Airport by Member
of Security and Management Committee Vice-Admiral Than Nyunt, Minister for
Education U Pan Aung, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Nyunt Swe,
ambassadors of ASEAN member countries, heads of departments under the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officials.
Delegation members Director-General U Aye Lwin and Head of Branch Daw Moe
Thuza of ASEAN Affairs Department and PSO to the Minister U Zaw Myint Oo
also arrived back.
At the meeting, participants had a cordial discussion on the meeting of
three foreign ministers of ASEAN and Second Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun
Sen on 2 August and the ASEAN's common attitude on current developments in
Cambodia.
After the meeting, the Foreign Ministers of Thai-land, the Philippines and
Indonesia met the Press.

(8) Major Kat Ye (a) Thein Tun and members of NUPA Rakhine
armed group exchange arms for peace
YANGON, 12 Aug- The State Law and Order Restoration Council or the Tatmadaw
Government is building national reconsolidation, upholding Our Three Main
National Causes. It has also formulated and is implementing the 12
political, economic and social objectives for emergence of a peaceful,
modern and developed nation. For bringing about secure and peaceful life for
those who have exchanged arms for peace, it also lays emphasis on
establishing model villages and houses, reclaiming land for agriculture,
arranging for agriculture, livestock breeding and production on manageable
scale and fulfilling their health, education and social requirements.
Realizing that years-long destructive acts do not benefit the nation and
perceiving the noble mind, genuine goodwill and correct endeavours of the
Government, armed groups are exchanging arms for peace individually or in
groups.
Members of the NUPA Rakhine armed groups have recently exchanged arms for
peace in separate occasions at the local Tatmadaw battalion at Kwinchaung
Village in Paletwa Township.
Platoon commander Weh Set and sergeant Aung Kalay of NUPA Rakhine armed
group exchanged arms for peace bringing along with them two M-22 automatic
rifles, three magazines and 340 rounds of ammunition on 17 July; privates
Aung Aung and Kyaw Khine on 24 July; 11-member armed group led by major Kat
Ye (a)Thein Tun with two AR-18 arms, three AK-47 automatic rifles, one M-22
automatic rifle, eight 40-mm bombs, one No 36 hand grenade, three AK-47
magazines, four M-16 magazines, 500 rounds of AK-47 ammunition and 150 rounds
of M-16 ammunition on 25 July; and eight-member group led by sergeant Kan
Lwe on 28 July.
Commanding Officer of the local battalion Lt-Col Nyi Nyi and Tatmadaw
members and local people extended a warm welcome to those who exchanged arms
for peace.
The Commanding Officer then presented bags of rice and cash sent by the
Western Command to them individually.
The men who exchanged arms for peace previously resided at villages in
Paletwa Township. Arrangements.are being made to resettle them in the
villages and enable them to engage in agricultural production.
There are more members of the armed groups who will follow suit.

(9) Minister for NPED receives SIF Executive Director
YANGON, 12 Aug Minister for National Planning and Economic Development
Brig-Gen Abel received Executive Director of Singapore International
Foundation Mr Chen Chin Chi and party at the ministry this morning.
They discussed technical cooperation in Myanmar social welfare work and
health care services by sending skilled volunteers of Singapore
International Foundation to Myanmar under Singapore Volunteers Overseas
Programme.
Present also were officials of the ministry.

(10) Myanmar youth delegation arrives back from Cuba
YANGON, 12 AugThe 18-member Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for
Forestry U Aung Phone arrived back here by air yesterday evening after
attending the 14th World Youth and Students Festival held in Cuba.
They were welcomed back at Yangon International Airport by Minister for
Communications, Posts and Telegraphs U Soe Tha, Deputy Minister for Home
Affairs Col Tin Hlaing and departmental officials.

(11) Yangon Division WCWA discusses women's life development
research project
YANGON, 12 Aug A coordination meeting on future tasks relating to women's
life development research project was held by the Violence Against Women
Subcommittees of Myanmar National and Yangon Division Working Committees for
Women's Affairs at Yadanathiri Hall, Konmyinttha, in Mayangon Township this
afternoon.
It was attended by members of MNWCWA, participants of research project,
members of the Violence Against Women Subcommittee, members of Yangon
Division Law and Order Restoration Council, chairmen and secretaries of
Yangon East and West District Law and Order Restoration Councils, members of
Women's Affairs Working Committees from four districts of Yangon Division,
chairpersons and secretaries of the Violence Against Women Subcommittees,
authorities from Kyimyindine and Thingangyun Townships, heads of the Health
Department, health workers, guests and departmental officials.
Chairperson of the Violence Against Women Subcommittee, of MNWCWA Dr Khin
Win Shwe explained the purpose and future tasks pertaining to the project.
Chairperson of Research Committee Professor Daw Khin Aye Win took part in
the discussion.
The meeting ended with concluding remarks by Dr Khin Win Shwe.

(12) National Convention Convening Commission meets
YANGON, 1 2 Aug- National Convention Convening Commission held a meeting at
its office this afternoon.
Present on the occasion were Chairman of NCCC Lt-Gen Myo Nyunt,
Vice-Chairmen Lt-Gen Maung Thint and Brig-Gen Myo Thant and commission
members.
Lt-Gen Myo Nyunt spoke on the occasion.
Afterwards, they held discussions on the National Convention.
