Secretary I Received National Race Leader of Kachin State Region (2)
		Chairman of Work Committee for Development of Border Areas and National
Races, Secretary I of State Law and Order Restoration Council Lt. Gen. Khin
Nyunt received U Zaw Hmaing, national race leader of Kachin State Region (2)
who came back into the legal fold in Feb.'94, heading the armed group, the
Kachin Independence 
Organization (KIO).
		The took meeting place on 31 July in Yangon where they discussed 
development of transport, education, health and other sectors in the region.
		U Zaw Hmaing's group (KIO) is one of the (16) armed groups which came back
into the legal fold after SLORC assumed the state responsibility in 1988 and
have joined hands together with the government in establishing national
unity, peace, tranquility and rebuilding of a new nation.

Pyay-Aunglan Railroad Near Completion
		The Bwetkyi Bridge near Myakyaukse village between Aunglan and Pyalo is now
near its completion. It is on of the 341 bridges to be built along
(Pyay-Aunglan- Taungdwingyi-Kyaukpadaung-Bagan) West Yoma Railroad Project.
		The 1,360 feet long bridge, with 16 spans each 85 feet wide, was built
beginning of October last year.
		The 40.38 mile Pyay-Aunglan railroad section, including this Bwetkyi
bridge, work is going to be soon completed.
		All the projects have been undertaken by Myanmar Railways with the 
cooperation of Armed Forces Personnel. They have also built and opened
Bagan-Kyaukpadaung Railroad on 11 Feb.'97 and Aunglan-Taungdwingyi Railroad
on 22 May '97, it is learnt.


Workshop To Promote Small & Medium Enterprises
		A workshop on partnership programme was held on 31 July at the Union of
Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UMCCI) to promote small and medium
enterprises in the country. The programme commenced since 29 July.
		It was jointly sponsored by UMCCI, Myanmar Industrial Producers 
Association and ZDH-Partnership Programme of Small and Medium Enterprises of 
Germany, which is based in Singapore.
		The executives and members of the sponsoring association and organizations
sought means to uplift ability and skills of Myanmar traders, entrepreneurs
and 
industrialists.


Private Sectors Gems Exhibition To Be Held In September
		Under the aegis of the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism, TTF (Yangon) Co. Ltd.
will organize ? Yangon Gems '97 ? with the concept ?Buyers meet Sellers? at
Traders Hotel from 10 to 14 September.
		The exhibition aims at developing a thriving market for gems and jewelry of
Myanmar which at present are found on the world market and benefiting the
Myanmar gem entrepreneurs with technological development.

1.	Minister for Hotel and Tourism Lt. Gen. Kyaw Ba received Group Chairman of
Syntech-Woh Hup Pte. Ltd. Mr. Pong Sarasin and party at his office.

2.	Minister for Transport Lt. Gen. Thein Win received G.M. Mr. N.Ikeuchi of
ship and Industrial Project Department of Japan and party at his office.

3.	Minister for Health U Saw Tun received M.D. Mr. Tae Chul shin of Daewoo
(Yangon Office) and party at his office.
