A bomb expert defused four pounds of dynamite placed in the Siam City 
Cement Plc compound in Kaeng Khoi yesterday.

Four dynamite bars wired with a motorcycle battery were found at the 
main water pump station of the company on Mitraparp-Tarndiaw Road.

The circuit was blocked only by a match, which could easily have fallen 
if there had been any vibration.

The police called expert Nakhon Thavorncharoen. He took only a minute to 
deactivate the bomb, which would otherwise have destroyed everything in 
a 100-metre radius.

Some 300 workers from Siam Pine China Co and Royal Porcelain Co, 
subsidiaries of Siam City Cement, rallied to demand a pay increase late 
Tuesday night. The rally dispersed early yesterday morning.

The main water pump station where the bomb was placed is used to supply 
water from the Pasak River to nine factories situated some two 
kilometres away.
