(1) Senior General Than Shwe receives Minister of Trade of Socialist of
Vietnam
YANGON, 28 July - Chairman of the State Law and Order Restoration
Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Than
Shwe received Minister of Trade of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam
Mr Le Van Triet and party at Dagon Yeiktha of the Ministry of Defence
this morning.
The guests were accompanied by Ambassador of the Socialist Republic
of Vietnam Mr Tran Viet Tan.

(2) Minister of Trade of Socialist Republic of Vietnam tours Shan State
YANGON, 28 July -Minister of Trade of the Socialist Republic of
Vietnam Mr Le Van Triet and party, currently here at the invitation
of Minister for Commerce Lt-Gen Tun Kyi, left here by air for Heho on
26 July morning.
They arrived at Heho where they were welcomed by Chairman of Shan
State Law and Order Restoration Council Commander of Eastern Command
Maj-Gen Tin Htut and officials.
Mr Le Van Triet and party, accompanied by the Commander, visited
Innlay PhaungdawU Pagoda.
They proceeded to Innlay Khaungdaing Yayle Guest House where they
viewed the
Innlay traditional boat race.

(3) Secretary-1 inspects construction work in Mandalay
YANGON, 28 July - Secretary-1 of the State Law and Order Restoration
Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt ana party left here by Tatmadaw aircraft for
Mandalay yesterday evening.
They were welcomed by Chairman of Sagaing Division Law and Order
Restoration Council Commander of North-West Command Maj-Gen Hla Myint
Swe, Chairman of Mandalay Division Law and Order Restoration Council
Commander of Central Command Maj-Gen Ye Myint, Deputy Commander of
Central Command Brig-Gen Tin Soe, Mandalay Mayor Col Sein Win Aung,
military and civilian officials, members of Union Solidarity and
Development Association and others.
The Secretary-1, ministers and party proceeded to Upper Myanmar
National Theatre Construction Project site and inspected progress of
work.
At the project site, Minister U Aung San, Commander Maj-Gen Ye Myint
and officials briefed the Secretary-1 on construction of National
Theatre and requirements.
He looked into their requirements.
The Secretary-1 and party inspected measures taken for beautifying
Mandalay Kandawgyi under the supervision of the Mandalay Development
Project of Mandalay City Development Committee.
In the evening, they paid homage to the Maha Muni Buddha Image and
offered Shwethingan.
Then, the Secretary-1 and party paid obeisance to Yaydaw Sayadaw
Bhaddanta Pinnavamsa and later donated cash to Maha Muni Pagoda
funds.
They then inspected cultural heritage on the precincts of the Maha
Muni Buddha Image.
They proceeded to Nanmyo Guest House and spent the night there.

(4) Minister looks into transport facilities in Up-country
YANGON, 28 July-Minister for Transport Lt-Gen Thein Win and Commander
of Central Command Maj-Gen Ye Myint yesterday morning visited the
Mandalay Airport and inspected the arrival and departure of
passengers, security; arrangements, renovation of the airport
building, rest rooms and airport lounge. They also inspected
extension of the apron.

(5) International Neem Network Workshop begins
YANGON, 28 July-The International Neem Network Workshop jointly
sponsored by the Forest Department of the Ministry of Forestry, and
Forest Resource Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization
(FAO) began at the International Business Centre with an opening
address by Minister for Forestry Lt-Gen Chit Swe.
Also present were heads of department under the Ministry of Forestry,
Ambassadors and diplomats, representatives of Bangladesh, China,
India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Senegal, SriLanka, Thailand
and Vietnam and international experts, observers of the departments
related to the workshop, the FAO Resident Representative in Yangon
and officials and guests.

(5) Ordination of 1,000 persons to be held
YANGON, 28 July-A coordination meeting on ordination of 1,000 persons
was held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, this afternoon,
attended by Minister for Religious Affairs Lt-Gen Myo Nyunt.
The ordination ceremony will be held at Maha Pasana Cave under the
sponsorship of the ministry.
Present were Deputy Minister U Aung Khin, Director-General of
Department for Promotion and Propagation of the Sasana U Sann Lwin,
Commander of No 1 Military Region Col Thaik Tun, Secretary of Yangon
Division Law and Order Restoration Council Lt-Col San Matu, chairmen
of District Law and Order Restoration Councils and officials.
Minister Lt-Gen MyoNyunt said Chairman of Yuzana Construction U Htay
Myint asked for the ministry to hold ordination of 1,000 persons.
The minister called for coordination for success of the ordination.
U Htay Myint then spoke and officials reported on arrangements.
The meeting ended with the concluding remarks by the minister.

(6) Minister for Industry-2 inspects factories of MHI
YANGON, 28 July-Minister for Industry-2 Maj-Gen Kyaw Than, Deputy
Minister U Thein Tun, Adviser Dr Kyaw Htin and officials inspected No
3 Factory of Myanma Heavy Industries in Sinde, Padaung Township, Bago
Division on 26 July.
The minister was welcomed by Deputy Commander of No 66 LID Col Kyaw
Kyaw, Chairman of Pyay District Law and Order Restoration Council
Lt-Col Soe Nyunt and factory managers.
Factory Manager U Than Htut reported on transport of equipment worth
50 million yuan purchased from the People?s Republic of China and
arrival of equipment for repair of foundry shop and operation,
production in July, requirement of raw materials and difficulties,
research and development and sale at Shwe Myanmar Shop in Pyay.
The minister spoke of proper arrangement for operation, arrangements
for production of agricultural equipment and fulfillment of
requirements.
Deputy Minister U Thein Tun reported on exceeding targets in second
four monthly period, purchase of parts needed and transport of goods
to sale shops.
The minister inspected Foundry Shop, Light Vehicle Forging Shop, AME
Shops, Die Making Shop, Torch and Dyname Shop and equipment for the
Foundry Shop.
The minister and party visited the Industrial Training School (Sinde)
where local manufacture of TE-21 rear axle is to be attempted.
On 27 July, the minister inspected motor vehicles produced by No 4
Factory (Htonbo) Factory Manager U Lon Khaing reported on production
of vehicles, engines, batteries and implementations under the
instructions of the minister.
The minister praised workers for their innovation. He inspected
Pyingyi Port and purified water plant.
The minister went to No 5 Factory in Nyaungchedauk and inspected
transformer workshop and construction of guest house.
The minister and party inspected the site of Nawadei Bridge in Pyay
where Project Director U Soe Win and Chairman Lt-Col Soe Nyunt
reported on progress of work.
They arrived back here in the evening.

(7) Nine diesel electric locomotives purchased from Complant of PRC
handed over to MR
YANGON, 28 July - A ceremony to hand over nine 2,000 HP diesel
electric Io-comotives purchased from China National -Complete Plant
Import and Export Yunnan Cordoration of the People?s Republic of
China to Myanma Railways was held at Platform No 1 of Yangon Railways
Station this morning.
It was attended by Minister for Rail Transport tation U Win Sein,
Minister at the Office of Prime Minister U Than Shwe, Minister at the
Office of the Chairman of the State Law and Order-Restoration Council
Lt-Gen Min Thein and official concerned.

(8) Minister for Hotels and Tourism receives Ambassador of Pakistan
YANGON, 28 July - Member of the State Law and Order Restoration
Council Minister for Hotels and Tourism Lt-Gen Kyaw Ba received
Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mr Javed Hafiz at his
office this afternoon.
Present also were Director General of Directorate of Hotels and
Tourism U Khin Maung Latt and Managing Director of Myanma Hotels and
Tourism Services U Soe Thein.

(9) Minister for Mines receives Minister of Trade of Socialist Republic
of Vietnam
YANGON, 28 July Member of the State Law and Order Restoration Council
Minister for Mines Lt-Gen Kyaw Min received Minister of Trade of the
Socialist Republic of Vietnam Mr Le Van Trit and party at his office
this afternoon.
Present also were Deputy Ministers for Mines U Hlaing Win and U Myint
Thein and officials.
