Burma Womens' Day and Spiritual Ind

Subject: Burma Womens' Day and Spiritual Independence Day

Dear everyone,

I am a Japanese researcher/consultant of conflict resolution,
and am also a part of the endevour of the people over the world
to realise democracy and human rights in Burma.

Today is the first Burma Women's Day (Suu Kyi's birthday) as well
as a very important day for a Swedenborgian church that I am a
member of (Spiritual Independence Day or New Church Day)

I e-mailed to Swedenborgians over the world the following message,
which I would like to share with you.

New Church Day and Burma Women's Day

Dear everyone in the Swedenborg discussion group, I would like to
celebrate with you the joy of the New Church Day. Today more than
200 years ago, the New Church was established in the spiritual world,
replacing the Old Church, which had by that time become loveless,
cold and repressive. This change has been felt gradually among the
churches and peoples on earth (in terms of freedom in religious thinking,
universalism, common Humanity in every culture, new age, etc..), and
has been the driving force behind individual and social regeneration.

Today, an outstanding Asian woman spearheads social regeneration,
proclaiming the power of loving kindness, compassion and equanimity
over that of hatred, suspicion and coercion. She has rediscovered
universal human values (that reflects the Divine Human) in the cultural
and spiritual tradition of her country and strives to realise a truly
humane society based on such values. Today (19th June) is the birthday
of this woman, Aung San Suu Kyi of Burma. In honour of her and millions
of nameless but brave women of her country who have dedicated
themselves to the noble cause, today has been designated as the first
Burma Women?s Day and celebrations will be held over the world.

So, I wish all of you a happy New Church Day and Burma Women?s Day!
