Ref. Mr Ne Oo
     Born in Burma
     File no. 93/xxxxx

Mr Ne Oo

Dear Mr Oo

I am pleased to tell you that your application for refugee status in
Australia has been approved.

This means you have met one of the important requirements for the grant of
a Domestic Protection (Temporary) Entry Permit (DPTEP) which you applied
for on 25th May 1992. A DPTEP will allow you to remain in Australia as a
refugee for four years from the date of this letter. Below you will read
details about the other requirements you must meet.

What you should do when you receive this letter
-----------------------------------------------
You should go to the South Australian State Office of this Department to
find out how to meet the remaining requirements for the grant of the DPTEP.
You should take with you:
        - this letter
        - passport/s and other documents used to enter Australia by you
        - two passport size photographs of yourself
You must also be examined by an Australian Government medical officer and
have a chest X-ray examination. The Immigration Officer at the counter will
give you more details about this.

What you can do if you are granted a DPTEP
------------------------------------------
If you are granted a DPTEP, you will be allowed to stay in Australia for
four years from the date of this letter.

During the four years, you can work in Australia. You do not have to get
special permission to do this.

You will also be able to receive a Medicare card. This card allows you to
receive Government assistance with the cost of medical services in
Australia. You can apply for a Medicare card at any Medicare office.

If you need other welfare assistance during this time, you should ask at
tny office of the Department of Social Security about what benefits you can
receive.

During the four years, if you meet the requirements set out in Australia's
migration laws and regulations you may be granted permanent residence for
reasons other than being a refugee. You can ask at any office of this
Department about the requirements for permanent residence. If you think you
may meet the requirements, you should ask for an Application to Remain
Permanently in Australia (Form 887).

If you inted to travel overseas from Australian during the four years, you
should first obtain a Convention Travel Document. You can apply for this at
any Australian Pasport Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs and
Trade. To be granted a Convention Travel Document, you must show evidence
of your refugee status under the 1951 Convention. This letter should be
sufficient evidence of this. You must also show clear evidence that you
intend to travel overseas in the near future. Such evidence includes an
airline ticket, a letter from a travel agent or travel itinerary issued by
a travel agent. The personal details (name, date of birth, country of
birth, family relationships) which appear on the first page of this letter
concerining you can be used by staff of the Australian Passport Office to
confirm the details in your own identity documents. When you have your
convention Travel Document, you must then apply at any office of this
Department for a re-entry visa. This visa allows you to return to Australia
and continue being a temporary resident.

What happens at the end of the four years
-----------------------------------------
If you do not have permanent residence in Australia by the time your DPTEP
expires, the Department will consider whether you still require the
protection of Australia. If may also consider whether you qualify to remain
longer in Australia according to the policy and law in force at that time.

I will send a copy of this letter and a copy of your application for a
DPTEP to the South Australian State Office so that staff there can expect
your visit.

YOU SHOULD KEEP THIS LETTER IN CASE YOU NEED TO PRODUCE IT FOR ANY
GOVERNMENT PURPOSE.

YOurs sincerely
Julie Higgins
Delegate of the Minister for Immigration, and Ethnic Affairs
Determination of Refugee Status Operation Branch
27th JUly 1993.
