RANGOON -- Chairman of the State Law and Order Restoration Council
Senior-General Than Shwe yesterday received visiting Malaysian Foreign
Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. He arrived here yesterday morning, state-run
TV Myanmar reported. The minister, who is presently chairman of the Standing
Committee of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), is on a
mission to convey to the Myanmar leader the Asean decision that Myanmar, along
with Cambodia and Laos, will be admitted into the group in July when the
Association holds its 30th annual ministerial meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
