YANGON,   May  4,  Myanmar  attacked Ms.   Aung San  Suu Kyi  and her
democratic  opposition  today  for  "undermining  the  ruling Junta's
attempts to agree to a peace deal with the rebel Karen National Union
(KNU)

An  editorial  in the  English-language edition  of the  official New
Light of Myanmar daily alleged her group persuaded the KNU, which has
been  fighting Yangon for almost 50  years,  not to reach a ceasefire
with the Government.

Her  group had  "coaxed the KNU,   the only armed  group remaining to
return  to the legal fold,  to quit the peace parleys at the stage of
almost making peace,"it said. (AFP)
