Violence puts ASEAN expansion in doubt
BANGKOK, April 29 (UPI) _ Plans for the rapid expansion of the Association
of Southeast Asian
Nations have been put in doubt by instability of Cambodia and U.S. sanctions
against Burma.
Philippines Foreign Minister Domingo Siazon is quoted (Tuesday) as saying
recent violence in
Cambodia could delay the admission of that country, as well as Burma and
Laos, into the
seven-member ASEAN grouping.
