EU takes trade profits away from Burma

Brussels (ANP) - The European Union decidde on Monday to withdraw trade 
preferences for Burma in protest to the use of Forced Labour. The minister of 
Foreign Affairs decided on advise from the European Commission to withdraw for 
now the import-tariffs on agricultural- and industrial products from Burma.
The commission reacted with this to an urgent appeal by the International 
Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) and the European Tradeunions.
The Burmese regime has always denied the complaints. Buddist traditions 
would according to the regime allow forced labour.
