Indo-Burma border closed at Tamu to
Subject: Indo-Burma border closed at Tamu town
India and Burma border was closed by local Burmese authority of Tamu
since 7th March 1997. Tamu is a boder town of Burma and close to Moreh of
India.Previuosly, hawkers and small skill vendors from Burma were passing
through the border and came to Moreh Market every day to sell vegetables
and other goods including China made items.On 7 March 1997 new bazaar was
opened up in Nan Pha Lon village vere near to Tamu by local Burmese
authority and prohibited to across the border."All of the marchants and
vendors can made their business in Nan Pha Lon new bazaar and any one who
across the border with out permission must be penality to 6 months in
jail",local Burmese authority said. Local people like hawkers and small
skill vendors are facing hardship condition.
