Art & Culture Foundation - India, New Delhi conferred its 
5th Rajiv Smriti Puraskar (Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Award) to 
Hon'ble Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on 19th August 1996, at 
Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi in a colourful, for her strive 
for democracy and peace in Burma.
 
Hon'ble Shri Ramu Wallia, minister of Welfare, Government 
of India presented the Award to Dr. Tint Swe, NLD MP 
currently living in New Delhi, on behalf of NLD leader Daw 
Aung San Suu Kyi, the aspiration of democracy peace and 
courage.
 
Over-packed Kamani hall audience were addressed by former 
Human Resources Development minister Shri Arjun Sing, 
renounced literaturist, Shri C. P. Prabhakar and Dr. Ratanakar 
Pandy a former member of Indian parliament and well known 
artist.
 
Dr. Tint Swe thanked the members of Art & Culture 
Foundation, government of India and people of India on 
behalf of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, people of Burma and all 
other democratic forces striving for democracy and freedom 
in Burma.
