Thiripyitsaya Hotel to become 220-room four star facility
Yangon, 21 June-- Myanma Hotels and Tourism Services and Myanmar
Thiripyitsaya Sakura Co Ltd of Exe Design Co Ltd of Japan today signed =
a
contract to upgrade Thiripyitsaya Hotel to become a 220-room four star =
facility, with an address by Minister for Hotels and Tourism Lt-Gen Kyaw =
Ba.
Because of its situation and Myanmar cultural designs, Thiripyitsaya
Hotel is one of the best in Bagan, which is a famous tourist destination =
rich in ancient cultural heritage, he said.
Under the contract, facilities of the 68-room hotel will be upgraded and =
a new 150-room hotel building will be built, he disclosed, adding the =
Japanese company has already been engaged in a modern housing complex =
project and an office plaza project in My anmar and the present project =
is its third enterprise here.
Renovation of the current hotel will be completed within 12 months and =
the new hotel building will be built in 18 months.
Two other contracts are being sign to build two international-level
hotels in Bagan with foreign investment, he said, stressing the need to =
strive for early completion of their projects.
Of the 150,000 visitors to Myanmar in fiscal 1995-96, 18,000 are
Japanese, he disclosed, welcoming tourists to Visit Myanmar 1996.
Chairman Mr H Hasegawa of Myanmar Thiripyitsaya Sakura Co Ltd, Managing =
Director Mr Hitoshi Tani and Japanese Ambassador Mr Yoichi Yamaguchi
also spoke.
Managing Director U Soe Thein of MHTS and Director U Tin Htay and Mr H =
Hasegawa and Mr Hitoshi Tani signed the contract.
Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission Minister at the Deputy Prime =
Minister=92s Office Brig-Gen Maung Maung presented the permit to Mr H =
Hasegawa.
The ceremony at the Strand Hotel was also attended by Deputy Prime
Ministers Vice-Admiral Maung Maung Khin and Lt-Gen Tin Tun, Minister for =
Mines Lt-Gen Kyaw Min, Minister at the Prime Minister=92s Office Brig-Gen=
Lun Maung, Deputy Minister for Foreign Af fairs U Nyunt Swe, Deputy
