DUTCH AMBASSADOR PRESENTS HERSELF TO BURMA'S GOVERNMENT

AMSTERDAM - "Five minutes they listened to her, and then she was back on the
streets." This description of the official presentation of the "new" Dutch
Ambassador for Burma, mrs Van Assem, Ambassador in Thailand, comes from a
source in The Netherlands. Recently mrs Van Assem presented her official
papers with the military government of Burma.

The Burma Centre Nederland learned this week that the relations between the
Dutch Ambassy and the military government of Burma have cooled. "They (the
Ambassy (BCN)) are not encouraging anyone to do business," the source said.
The spokesperson did not want to be identified.
