CIA Covert Operations in Asia

The data base listed below is the only computerized
data base on CIA covert operations in Asia from the beginning
of up to today.

                       CIABASE

CIABASE is a computer data base on the Central Intelligence
Agency that provides a vital, easy-to-use historical resource for
policy makers, academicians, journalists, and students.

CIABASE presents over nine megabytes containing over 32,000
annotated entries broken into 100+ categories for hard disk
IBM compatible and MACINTOSH personal computers.

CIABASE provides data on the CIA and other individual or
organizational entities, from information gleaned from 850+
sources of various political ideologies -- congressional
reports, newspapers, and magazines, including more than 500
books.

CIABASE provides rapid access to specific data, scanning in
seconds the entire collection for word, or word-combination, plus
date requests; e.g."Covert Action" "China" "94-95." Results are
displayed, printed, or dumped to user-named files for editing
or transmitting.

Professor of intelligence at American University who is
a former Commandant of the the Defense Intelligence College,
John Macartney, said "CIABASE remains a one-of-a-kind, extraordinary
resource for serious scholars, journalists, and researchers,
regardless of their political leanings and research interests...
there are no alternates out there. If there were, they would
undoubtedly sell for thousands of dollars....I am in awe of
the massive effort....in short I have found CIABASE invaluable,
indeed indispensable..." Dr. John Macartney, American University.

"An outstanding job." Seymour Hersh, Publitzer-prize-winning
journalist.

"A tremendously useful tool for any reporter or researcher."
The Nation.

"A powerful tool that includes obscure sources and a
comprehensive cross-index." The Progressive.

"An encyclopedia of CIA actions." San Francisco Chronicle.

"An amazing addition to the information world....
it is absolutely indispensable." Louis Wolf, editor
Covert Action Quarterly.

"Former CIA officer Ralph McGehee has recently updated his
excellent CIABASE system adding information from a number of new
on-line or printed publications..." Intelligence 9/11/95.

The CIA called Ralph McGehee, who compiled CIABASE, an
analyst with few peers. McGehee served 25 years in the CIA,
14 years overseas as an operations officer and 11 years at its
headquarters. Upon leaving the CIA, McGehee wrote the book
"Deadly Deceits" and began the multi-year process of compiling
CIABASE. McGehee is a recognized authority on the CIA
and has testified many times both in Congress and in the
courts and has appeared numerous times on radio and TV.
