    RANGOON, April 11 (Reuter) - A subsidiary of Canada's
Ivanhoe Capital group, Ivanhoe Myanmar Holdings Ltd, and Burma's
state-owned Number One Mining Enterprise, signed a joint venture
agreement to mine copper, state media reported on Thursday.
The agreement covers the development, mining and processing
of copper from the Monywa copper complex in central Burma's
Sagaing Division, the media said.
"The deposit at Letpandaung (the agreed mining area) is
known to cointain about 180 million tonnes of copper ore with
copper content of 0.66 percent," Burma's Minister for Mines,
Lieutenant-General Kyaw Min, was quoted as saying at a signing
ceremony on Wednesday.
Negotiations between Ivanhoe and the state mining enterprise
began four years ago and the two sides signed a feasibility
study agreement in March, 1994.
