DV-97 Visa Lottery

U.S. Dept. of Justice has just announced the "diversity Immigrant
Visa (DV) Lottery Program for 1997.  This year, as last year, it will
award 55,000 diversity immigrants from six geographic regions; i.e.
Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America including
Central America and the Caribbean.  Burma is one of the eligible
countries from Asia Region.  Up to 3,850 visas could be awarded from one
single eligible country.  Visas will be issued to the winners from
October 1, 1996 through September 30, 1997.

     The application period for registration for the DV-97 will begin at
12:01 a.m. (eastern time) on Monday, February 12, 1996, and will end at
midnight on Tuesday, March 12, 1996.  Applications must be typed or
clearly printed and mailed to one of the six correct zip codes depending
upon the region of the applicant's native country.  The address to send
is as follows:

     Only one application may be submitted by or for each applicant
during this registration period.  Applications must be sent to the above
address by regular mail or air mail only, and may be mailed from within
the U.S. or abroad ( that means the applicant does not need to be outside
the U.S.).

     Only one application may be included in each envelope.  The size of
envelope must be between 6 inches and 10 inches in length, and between 3
1/2 inches and 4 1/2 inches in width to assist the automated processing.
Typed or clearly printed in the upper left hand corner of the front of
the envelope must be the country of which the applicant is a native.
Typed or clearly printed below the country must be the same name and
mailing address of the applicant as are shown in the application.

     There is no application fees or special application form.  The
request for registration in the lottery must furnish the following
information on a plain sheet of paper.  The applicant's signature is
required on the application.  A recent 1 1/2 inch by 1 1/2 inch
photograph of the applicant with his or her name printed on the reverse
side of the photograph must be submitted with the application.  Each
application must be in the following format:

     A.  Applicant's Full Name
              Last Name, First Name and Middle Name
              (Underline Last Name/Surname/Family Name)

     B.  Applicant's Date and Place of Birth
              Date of Birth;  Day, Month, Year
              Place of Birth;  City/Town, District/County/Province, Country)

     C.  Name, Date od Place of Birth of Applicant's Spouse and Children
         (under 21 years of age and unmarried), if any.  Husband and wife
         may each submit a separate application.

     D.  Applicant's Mailing Address ( a telephone number is optional)

     E.  Applicant's Native Country if different from Country of Birth.

     F.  Applicant's Signature

     G.  Photograph of the Applicant.
