clogged inboxes

To the recipients of reg.burma:

Recently some very dated messages have been posted on reg.burma.
This is a problem for people who need to keep to a bare minimum
the number of messages coming into their box. Please be sure your
message is timely and relevant before you post it. Also, if you want
to reply to one person rather than to all of reg.burma, when you type
your message, you will be asked if you want to send it to all recipients
or not - please type "n" for no. This way, your reply will only go to the
person who posted the original message.

Also, please remember there are 3 levels of access to information about
Burma. Be sure you are accessing the level which is appropriate for you.

1. If you only want to receive the BurmaNet News and nothing else, please
subscribe to: burmanews-l

To Subscribe: send a message to: majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxx
do not put in a subject
in the message, type: subscribe burmanews-l
(do not send this message to strider)

2. If you want to receive the BurmaNet News and some other postings
from other subscribers to burmanet-l, subscribe to: burmanet-l
(note: this is the same as the conference: reg.burma)

To Subscribe: send a message to: majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxx
do not put in a subject
in the message, type: subscribe burmanet-l
(do not send this message to strider)

3. If you want to read the BurmaNet News and everything else about Burma
including discussions about various personalities, tourism, etc., then you
can subscribe to the newsgroup soc.culture.burma
(note: this will not be e-mailed to you, but you can easily access it in UNIX
if you have a university account or through internet services if you have a
commercial provider.)

Please put all informal discussions and miscellaneous information
here rather than in reg.burma (burmanet-l). Also, please do not send out
duplicate copies of messages, as this clogs up peoples' e-mail inboxes for no
good reason.

Finally, to unsubscribe to burmnews-l or burmanet-l, simply send a message to
majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxx, and in the message type: unsubscribe burmanews-l
or unsubscribe burmanet-l. Please do not send these messages to strider.

Thank You,
		The BurmaNet Editor
