Subject: McConnell Bill: Request for Fax and E-mail Addresses
Would someone post the Fax and/or E-mail addresses for Senator Mitch
McConnell, Congressman Bill Richardson, California Senators Feinstein and
Boxer, and other persons in the US Congress likely to be influential in
the passage of this legislation?
For those of us outside the USA, fax and e-mail are the fastest and
cheapest ways to contact them.
I understand that there will be committee hearings in both the Senate and
House, then a floor vote in each, then a committee to reconcile the two
versions, then a Presidential signing, so our support will be necessary
at each step. This bill will not pass without a fight, as there is a lot
of money involved. Once passed, however, US businesses will be obliged to
join us in working to keep their competitors in other countries out of
Burma as well.
Non-US citizens can also send letters of appreciation and encouragement
to US Members of Congress.
Thanks to Jane Jerome (July 11) and Coban Tun (July 24) for reminding us
to take action. And to the ABSDF (July 22) for their detailed report on the
Unocal/Total/PTT/SLORC Gas Pipeline from Hell.
