D.B.S.O cautiously welcomes the release of our national leader Daw Aung San
Suu Kyi. The release of
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi came only after tireless effort of Burmese democratic
forces and international community
for years. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's release is not the end of our struggle to
restore democracy in Burma, but it is
just a beginning of a new round of fighting. Hundreds of political prisoners
including our student leaders are still
being held in the detention centers all over Burma. There is still no freedom
of speech and expression for ordinary
Burmese people. Forced relocation, forced labor and vicious attacks on ethnic
people are still being perpetrated by
the armed forces. Under those circumstances, DBSO strongly believes that
struggle to restore democracy in its
motherland, must still be continued with full stride.

DBSO will stage a demonstration in front of the Burmese embassy in
Washington DC on July 12, 1995.
We demand State Law and Order Restoration Council to:

            - release all political prisoners unconditionally

	- release all student leaders unconditionally

	- immediately transfer state power to the duly elected people's
representatives.
