Burma eases domestic rice-trade rules   

    RANGOON, Jan 13 (Reuter) - Burma's military government has lifted some
restrictions on the domestic rice trade in the hope it will help bring down
prices, state-run media reported on Friday. 

    Wholesale rice dealers will from now on not have to register with the
Ministry of Trade, a process which previously involved a number of
complicated procedures. 

    The cancellation of the requirement to register is aimed at ensuring a
smooth flow of wholesale and retail rice and at bringing down prices, the
reports said.
