RANGOON, Burma (AP) -- Opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, in her
first meeting with visitors other than her family in nearly five
years of house arrest, said she will never accept a deal that re-
quires leaving her homeland, The New York Times reported Tuesday.
Mrs. Suu Kyi, winner of the 1991 Nobel Peace Prize, was allowed
to meet with Rep. Bill Richardson, D-N.M., and two others.
Richardson presented her with a letter from President Clinton,
the Times said. He said he would return Tuesday to get her
response.
